Veterinary Care Unlimited

Veterinary Care Unlimited was established in early 1991 by its founders, Dr. Theresa Paoloni and Ria Puma.

In 1991 Dr. Paoloni, Ria and their small staff of one receptionist and two technicians began providing that high quality care to one pet at a time. The Ozone Park community rapidly grasped this concept and today Dr. Paoloni, Ria and their experienced staff of sixteen have extended that same care to thousands of pets throughout NY.

Veterinary Care Unlimited remains current with new advancements in veterinary medicine and utilizes state of the art equipment in their practice.

Dr. Theresa Paoloni graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine 25 years ago and was ranked number two in her class.  In addition to her degree, she completed a one year externship at Mississippi State University School of Veterinary Medicine.  At Mississippi, she excelled in small animal medicine, surgery and radiology.

After working for other veterinary hospitals, Theresa realized she had a desire to nuture her own hospital and in 1991 she established Veterinary Care Unlimited and embarked on her life long dream.  During her years in practice she developed and tuned her skills in veterinary surgery and dentistry and soon discovered there was a tremendous need for good veterinary dental care.  She regularly performs root canals, crown placements, and cosmetic bonding.

Theresa is a member of the AVMA, AVDS, AAV, AFP and is often involved in career developing programs such as John Bowne High School internship program.  Her philosphy has always been patients first.  She achieves that goal with her excellent support staff and through client education.  Theresa is very proud of her staff of present and those of past who have helped her achieve her goals and dreams.

When not working, Theresa enjoys working in her garden, but her true passion is cooking.  Her staff would vow that she makes a mean pot pie among many other delicious feasts.  She also enjoys nature and working outdoors and spending time with her many pets.

Dr. Tiffany Miglorino is a native of Ozone Park and joined the staff at Veterinary Care Unlimited back in 2002 as a Veterinary Assistant.  From early childhood she always knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian.  She began working in the kennel area taking care of boarding animals and later began assisting with appointments and hospital patients.  Dr. Miglorino attended Hofstra University and received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in May of 2004.  She then attended St. George's University and completed her clinical rotations at North Carolina State University and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in June of 2008.  Dr. Miglorino continued to work at Veterinary Care Unlimited and became an associate veterinarian in February 2009.  It was an easy decision for her. She knew she wanted to stay in General Practice because of the bond with her patients that she cherishes.  The client's, patients and staff have become a part of her extended family.

Dr. Jeanne Harding, Part Time Associate

As a child, Jeanne Harding always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and began volunteering for the town veterinarian as a teenager.  However while attending college at the University of Vermont, she decided to pursue her interest in language and foreign policy, and graduated with a French and political science degree.  She spent a year in France, before settling into her career as a banker in Vermont.  She continued to volunteer at various humane societies, worked with a feral cat TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program, and pit bull rescue.

After some self-reflection, she began to regret her decision of not pursuing veterinary medicine.  Deciding to follow her heart, she went back to school in order to obtain the necessary prerequisites for veterinary school.  During that time, she volunteered for a local humane society in North Carolina and served on their board for several years.  She was accepted to the vet school at the University of Georgia and was awarded a 4 year scholarship through Best Friends Animal Society for her dedication to animals.  During vet school, she received an award for the student with the most compassion for all species.  She also received scholarships to study infectious disease in Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil and to conduct research in Puerto Rico on 3 different species of endangered sea turtles.

After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Harding completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists (ACVS) in Bohemia, NY.  She worked emergency at ACVS and Ultravet for several years before joining the team at Veterinary Care Unlimited.  In 2010, she graduated from the Chi Institute for veterinary acupuncture.  She is excited to be able to offer both traditional and alternative therapies for her animal patients.

In addition to her love of veterinary medicine, Dr. Harding enjoys spending time with family and her many rescued pets, antiquing, traveling, and spending time outdoors.

  • Nancy Battino, Licensed Vet Tech

    Nancy Battino, Licensed Vet Tech

Nancy began her career in the Veterinary Field in 1977 while attending college at New Paltz State. Growing up she always said she wanted to be a nurse, but there was always a piece of the puzzle missing, and she did not pursue nursing in college. It was because of a sad event that she got introduced to Veterinary Medicine. Her beloved dog was intentionally shot by hunters and was left with a bullet lodged in his spine. In 1977 there were no specialty hospitals, and her local vet removed the bullet. Pepe, not even a year old, was left paralyzed from the shoulders down, but there was a slim possibility of recovery with physical therapy and time. Her vet taught her how to do the daily therapy at the hospital. She had no idea what went on in a veterinary hospital beyond the exam room and that was most definitely the moment she knew she wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse! Sadly Pepe did not make it, but inspired by him, she continued learning and became licensed in NYS in 1984. Nancy has worked at many hospitals through the years including specialty hospitals. She has learned a lifetime worth of knowledge and skills from both the Veterinarians and support staff she has worked with. She knew from the start that Veterinary Nursing was like no other job in the world. The intensity of the spectrum is vast. The reward of helping out animals is beyond anything she can find words for. She has spent the last 35 years of her life doing Veterinary Nursing. She recently was considering retiring from nursing and perhaps exploring other things. Then she found Vetcare Unlimited and everything changed for her. From the moment she met Dr. Paoloni and Ria she knew she could not retire and there was more work to be done! That was confirmed even further after meeting and working with Dr. Miglorino, Dr. Harding and the support staff at VCU. The level of care, compassion, skill and continuing education is unmatched. Nancy is proud to have accepted the position of Veterinary Nursing Supervisor at VCU! Nancy shares her home with Colleen, her domestic partner of 22 years, and their furry children, three Labrador Retrievers, Cheyenne (15 years old), Cherokee (15 years old), and Chippewa (2 years old). Chippewa is a certified therapy dog.

    Glenn Kellum, Veterinary Assistant

Glenn Kellum has always had a love for animals.  Before working in the veterinary field, he was a sergeant in the United States Army for 4 years.  After being discharged, he knew he wanted to pursue a career where his true passion was.  He had lost his beloved cat, Princess, to mammary cancer right before joining the army.  Glenn decided to accept a position working in the adoption division of the ASPCA.  He loved associating with potential adopters and helping to unite new families together.  He left the ASPCA to work in an animal hospital as a technician and realized that this was his true calling.  Glenn accepted a position at Veterinary Care Unlimited in 1998.  Vet Care Unlimited has become a second family for Glenn.  He adores all the clients and patients (with whom he lovingly refers to as his moocha moocha'€™s) and has formed a true bond with many of them over the years.  Many clients refer to him as "Uncle Glenn".

Glenn shares his home with his 10 year old Red Nose Pitbull, Diamond, and his 2 year old cat, Sexy Momma.  In his spare time, Glenn enjoys volunteering at Ridgewood Senior Citizen Center, watching and playing sports, and spending time with his family.
